making the most of

Here is a repertoire of nice covers. Some of them particularly cool. The Lords is the epitome of punk. Scissors going all billyjoel. The Editors know their melodies. Ryan´s rendition may be the best ever. Death Cab has a great audience. Lalala.

death cab for cutie - complicated

sonic youth - superstar

the lords of the new church - like a virgin

the editors - feelgood inc.

ryan adams - wonderwall

doomsday for the deceiver

Surely some hammerheads out on those coldest of the streets will laugh on me. Point at me. Fiercely with malicious grin on their hate-breeding twisted faces. Still, anyways, keeping that all in my mind of course, I will take my shot of clean and pure metal, distilled in l.a. fashion on some areas and on others by more heavier and hotter statements of intent. It s only how far you can get away with it.

Black Sabbath - Sabbra Cadabra

Iron Maiden - Killers

Loudness - Crazy Nights

Manowar - All Men Play On Ten

Motley Crue - Live Wire

Skid Row - Slave To The Grind

Pantera - Cemetary Gates

my big mouth

Last nite I watched a new video by Oasis. It was called "The Masterplan". They´re releasing a new collection of their more prominent songs presumably, with an album "Stop The Clocks". Today, Oasis The Band is what it is. Some like it, some don´t. Still, back in 1994 they really we´re a special band. As I heard "Supersonic" the first time, it was a moment of totally constructing my music preferences altogether in a new exciting light. This is how rock should feel like. This is how a rock band should look like. Then "Live Forever". Still perfectly located in All Time Top Lists. They came on doing two great albums, then others less successful. However, over the passing time, they´ve always performed some nice results within those Post-Glory years. Like "D´You Know What I Mean". Like "Gas Panic". Like "Stop Crying Your Heart Out". Like "Songbird". Like "Part Of The Queue". They´re just a good rock band. And that´s where I find it all quite funny sometimes. For that how serious some people feel about it all. They´ve done some great songs and others not so. So what? What is this intense ferocious negativity in all things whatsoever via Pitchfork et al? Isn´t it just nice having them around. Even in 2006.

Oasis hasn´t ever pulled it off with music videos. I don´t know why. It just seems they quite often end up looking pretty goofy. Maybe they´d need some guidance from these top of the world art designer heroes. Like this new one. "The Masterplan". And it really sounds nearly as great as the first time around. So they made this cartoon video representing them as a band. Fair enough. But somehow it just looks plain silly. With Cartoon Liam making a self prophecizing characterization of himself. Maybe they really meant it like that. Still, with this track, for this day, I would had rather seen Oasis being reflected in quite a different way. But then they´re just another rock band. A funny band. Oh yeah.

Oasis - The Masterplan

Oasis - Carry Us All

Oasis - Eyeball Tickler

fire and rain

i did some reading on cat stevens a while ago. i ve known some of his songs for some time and they are all just terrific of course. and i watched that perfect film called harold and maude some months years back where he made a soundtrack to. however i didn t know any of that totally fascinating history with all those near death experiences and going all yusuf islam. which seems wild. en tout cas now i know. i also heard somewhere that he d release a new album in many many years. still these songs here represent one flash of his genuity.

cat stevens - peace train

cat stevens - the first cut is the deepest

cat stevens - wild world

cat stevens - where do the children play
